Twitter Hacked by “Iranian Cyber Army”

Twitter was hacked for a short time on early Friday morning, December 18. The attackers called themselves the “Iranian Cyber Army.” Despite the disruption, service was soon restored.

People whom tried accessing Twitter durring the time it was hacked, around 10 PM SL time. were redirected to a website displaying a green flag with Arabic script reading “Ya Hussein,” probably meaning a grandson of the prophet Mohammed, and a suggestion that the hackers were most likely Shiite Muslims, whom are mostly in Iran. Blue script near the flag read “Hezbollah is victorious.” There was also a poem with further words of defiance.

By 11:30 AM, users were able to access Twitter again, and on the official page a message was posted, "Twitter's DNS (domain name system) records were temporarily compromised but have now been fixed."

Last summer, Twitter found itself involved in Iranian politics when those protesting the disputed election used it and other social networking sites to both make reports and broadcast pictures. As the authorites had been trying to shut off media access to the dissidents, Twitter proved to be a thorn in their side.

Some speculate the attackers targeted Twitter in retaliation. But this is just the latest of a number of similar troubles. In August, Twitter was knocked offline for two hourrs due to an attack on a Russian hacker. The service has also been the target of scam artists.

More Trouble at Foxworth

Earlier, the Foxworthy sim was the scene of trouble when a number of accounts were permanently banned for reasons that made no sense to anyone familiar with the area. More recently, the region was the target of a griefer, whom went as far as to threaten someone. How the Lindens reacted was a surprise.

New Griefing Method on SL

7am SL time, March 23rd, as I'm happily roleplaying on a Star Wars sim wearing the sexy little Twi'Lek avatar I made as seen in my recently posted comic strip, I and many of those around me were suddenly rendered completely unable to move or speak, as our main maps kept opening of their own volition, against our wills, no matter how many times we tried closing it.
While this attack didn't affect everyone on the sim, it affected enough of us as to derail several rp's going on, and forcing several of us to relog at least once, twice in my own case.
The attack lasted 5 minutes, and for now seems to have subsided.
No group is claiming responsibility for the griefing as yet, but as with all griefing, all it succeeded in doing was causing irritation and annoyance that will quickly be forgotten by the players here, and the ego boost given to the culprits by the lulz this irritation gave them will dissipate soon enough, leaving them once again feeling like the empty-lifed losers they clearly are.

Hurricane who?

Looks like Fire Island is being hit once again and is under Lock down as yet another hurricane rips through the community - but who is it this time?
Actually no-one seems to know, although finding the name of a griefer is not difficult and that IS known, but who is behind it?
There are accusations flying all over the place with friends old and new being blamed as well as little black books being scrutinised in case someone from the past has light to shed on matters - or of course the griefing attack could just have been an isolated incident that happens within any community once in a blue moon.
But I really feel for the residents of the community, being under attack is not a nice position to be in but, being under lockdown is just as bad - friends cannot visit, groups are closed to new members - of course it also means if you are looking to join the community you will have to wait as its now invitation only and you can be sure anyone wishing to join will be put under a microscope. Lets hope they never had friends of a certain name.
Griefing is childish and petty and I for one hope the community finds out who is behind it but throwing accusations around ??????????????

SL5B griefer attack?

It's not that long ago that I personally learned from a Linden (at his office hours) that griefing has been dramatically reduced in the past months. Well, SL5B (the Second Life 5th birthday celebration mini-continent) seems like a perfect target.

Enus Linden, who has a nice dock in the SL5B Prim region, has become victim of this. His little place really has been set aflame with colored particles.

However, what's strange about this, is that a certain person who is in all the right groups for the SL5B events and sims and even Burning Life, seems to be the owner of these rezzing objects. So is this just a joke, or a real griefer attack?

Both Enus Linden and the owner of the particle rezzers were unavailable for comments.
