Some Christmas Events in Second Life

It would be impossible to list all the goings-on for Christmas in all of Second Life. But I can mention those I came across.

On Sunday December 23, from 2 to 4 PM SL time, the NYC sim held it’s Christmas live music concert, the second live event the sim has had. Singer Micki Underwood played rock tunes to the crowd of dozens in Washington Square Park, whom danced away to her music. Sim owner Cheri Bing commented someone had offered her a sizable donation, but she instead gave it to the singer in addition to her other tips, “When a New Yorker throws a party, we pay for everything.” Among the dancers were several of the Hobos, “an elite group of designers and builders. Six live in NYC - one in the homeless shelter.”

At the same time, though lasting a little past 5 PM, the STA held it’s own party near the dorms, hosted bu Euranna Rossini. DJ Stu played pop music to the dancers. Eventually sim owner GlobetrekkerBob Lane showed up, in a Santa suit. Visitors were invited to take a package from under the tree. Shade, a group noted for knowing how to throw a good party, also passed out some gifts of their own: jackets. At one point, some prankster tried to rain on our parade, literally, with some rain animation. No word on whether or not he will be getting only coal from Santa Bob this year

Although not having a special Christmas party, the Luskwood sim has been celebrating the season in the form of giving their treehouse a winterized look. They have also invited people to contribute ornaments for decorating the tree. The donated ornaments range from simple spheres, to blinking lights, to pictures, and of course a treetop star. Samara Nerd’s “Luskwood Bunkies” has also recently released some winter-themed avatars for sale.
These are, of course, just a tiny sample of all that is going on across Second LIfe for Christmas. So don’t fret about having missed out on anything, there is always something going on somewhere.
