There definitely are things from real life that we want to reproduce in Second Life, including sexuality. Whether it is for public purposes at a themed event or for actual SL sex, behaviors or appearances that match real-life counterparts are fine. At least to me.
But there is one thing that troubles me: the obsession of so many men in SL to have, display and actually use one of those scripted penises. Yes, you know, the ones they sell at places such as Xcite.
I have a few questions for the guys out there.
Take a public event. Say that you are going out at a club and that a "naked event" is going on. What does it really add to show off an erect penis that's almost as big as your head? Does it make your in-world self feel less like a man, even if you really are in sync with your SL persona? Do you ever realize that many of us women think that caring so much about an "intimate" attachment is taking it a bit too far? What kind of image does it broadcast about you?
Well, my asking the question gives you an idea of the answers I have in mind...
And what about more intimate situations? From what I gather, a "good" attachment requires constant adjusting to reproduce something realistic for different poses. Are you having less fun or a shallower relationship with your sex mate? You know, I have gone through one episode once that made me very angry during "the act". I made a comment about the intimacy of a position and how it looked realistic... only to hear the guy commenting about the state of his attachment in that pose. Talk about missing the point.
Really, do you guys need those prim penises? I'm happy for Xcite and their competitors because they make money with this. It is great business. But I wonder if any women appreciate that a guy focuses more on his SL penis in intimate positions.
